  • Using solid blocks of glass, the instructor will teach students all aspects of coldworking; shaping by grinding, polishing, the use of horizontal mill wheels and vertical lathes. He aims to change the general opinion and the relation of students to coldworking, which is not so popular, because cutting and polishing take a lot of time and look too difficult. Some methods will be used to do the coldwork a little easier, faster and more interesting by using diamond saw, chipping with hard metal chisel like the work with stone, using flex-grinders with diamond wheels.

  • ABOUT THE CLASS

Working with glass, an exciting and magical medium and a kind of enchantment that every time I sit down at the burner, will take place again. I hope that this joy and fun, which I feel at work, reflects in my beads, whether opaque, transparent, colorful… the possibilities are endless.

I enjoy teaching, specially intermediate and advanced classes because it's always a big challenge for me.

  • Carol Milne has spent many years teaching herself how to knit with glass. In this class she will share her secret “knitted glass” technique.

You don’t have to know how to knit.  The idea is to learn how to make successful, thin or hollow glass castings with cut-outs or filigree holes in them.

We will start by discussing the peculiarities of glass as a casting material.  And knowing these properties, we’ll learn how to trick glass into doing what we want it to do.

Takının felsefesini konuşarak,  ilham ve temayla  yüzyüze gelerek takıyı anlamak atölye çalışmasının hedefi olacak. Öğrenciler fikilerini bulduklarında davide onlardan birer proje tasarlamalarını isteyecek.  Tasarımları beraber incelerken  uygulamada hangi tekniğin  en uygun olduğuna karar verilecek. Aynı zamanda   hergün atölye de farklı teknikler ve üfleme üzerine farklı uygulamalar gösterilecek böylece  öğrenciler kendi takılarını yaparken  daha geniş uygulama  aralığı bulacak.
