Enamel (glass fused to metal), is basically a mixture of some raw minerals (like silica and soda ash), and metals (like lead and cobalt), fired in kilns between 750-850 degrees celcius onto metals. After a short firing time, enamel fuses to metal and keeps its color for centuries. In history, it is known that enameling was used in ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia. Today, enameling is a valuable technique widely used by jewelers and metalsmiths.

The techniques that will be learned are: Basse-taille, Champlevé, Cloisonné.

Materials: Copper shapes, enamels, sifters, wire, brushes, over glazes, stencils, shear, recycled paper. (These materials will be provided by Cam Ocağı Vakfı to use in the class).
Materials that students bring: Notebook and pencil to take notes.
