This course will explore hot glass blowing and hot glass pouring techniques and their many possibilities. We will concentrate on using nature as inspiration for blown and poured glass sculptures. We will blow lots of glass and use steel and sand molds to produce inspired works of glass art in Turkey.

STEPHEN DEE EDWARDS


Stephen Dee Edwards received his MFA from Illinois State University in 1980. He was an artist in residence at the Penland School until 1982 when he opened his studio in Micaville, North Carolina. He maintained a private studio there until 1988 when he took over the glass program at Alfred University. Stephen has been at Alfred University for the past 20 years building the program into the largest glass program in the U.S. He is a full professor at Alfred University and co-founder or the National Casting Center at Alfred University specializing in casting high temperature metals and glass. Stephen has received two National Endowment for the Arts Grants and exhibits his work internationally. His work is included in numerous public collections including the National Gallery of Art, Smithsonian Institution, Hokkaido Museum of Modern Art and the Corning Museum of Glass. Stephen is a past president of the Glass Art Society and a member of many international arts organizations.
