In this unique, intense and comprehensive course, students will look beyond technical hot casting to create precise body of work using different kind of material
The class will learn how to design and fabricated large and small scale sculpture and how to incorporate metals such as, copper, brass, lead, with glass, we will also explore metal embossing/engraving objects from 2D to 3D using different technical resources. Students will be encouraged to explore the combinations these two techniques allow.
A particular attention will be given to mixed media techniques using copper/gold/silver leafing and how to create colored patinas on metal, wood as well on glass. We will also learn an efficient variety of cold-working techniques, including cutting, carved, sand blasting, battuto, inciso. The class will discuss problem solving, engineering, kinetics, common mistakes and efficient ways to create specific design and final execution. We will explore how to prepare glass surfaces for laminating, adhesives, and general gluing set-up for each different kind of materials.

Pino Cherchi


Pino Cherchi was born and raised in between Sardinia, France, Venice, and Milan. He is been working in the field of glass for over 28 years. Trained as stained glass restaurateur he learns the complex diversity of glass media through around Europe. He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts from Accademia di Brera in Milan and his Master of Fine Arts Restoration from Ecole du Verre in France, has taught at Scuola D'Arte Botticino Brescia Italy. His work is exhibited both nationally and internationally and is represented by galleries in Florence, Carmel, Seattle, Venice, NYC, Santa Fe, Switzerland, London, China, Hawaii, Rome, Slovenia, Austria, Monte Carlo, Czechoslovakia, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Greece.
