In this unique, intense and comprehensive course, students will look beyond technical hot casting to create precise body of work using different kind of material.
The class will learn how to design and fabricated large and small-scale sculpture and how to incorporate metals such as, copper, brass, lead, with glass, we will also explore metal embossing/engraving objects from 2D to 3D using different technical resources. Students will be encouraged to explore the combinations this technique allows.
A particular attention will be given to mixed media techniques using copper/gold/silver leafing and how to create colored patinas on metal, wood as well on glass. We will also learn an efficient variety of cold-working techniques, including cutting, carved sand blasting, Battuto, Inciso. The class will discuss problem solving, engineering, kinetics, common mistakes and efficient ways to create specific design and final execution .We will explore how to prepare glass surfaces for laminating, adhesives, and general gluing set-up for each different kind of materials.
Pino CHERCHI

Pino CHERCHI is a glass and metal sculptor. He's been involved in glass art as an artist and teacher for over 26 years.
His work has been displayed in galleries in the United States and Europe for 16 years. In addition to being commissioned by private collectors, he have also done public projects. Those projects include being selected 3 times for the Annual On the Edge Sculpture Invitational. For one of these selections, he submitted the large outdoor sculpture featured on the left, displayed at Seattle’s Benaroya Hall.
He's also restored stained glass at the historical church Collegiata Di Santa Maria Assunta Di Arco di Trento in Trento, Italy, and at the Washington State Governor’s Mansion.
